Polyester: our recommendation for younger children
For younger children and learn to swim programmes, we'd usually point you towards our polyester swim hats.
Polyester is the odd one out in our range because it's fabric rather than rubber, and that changes what it's good at. It won't keep hair dry in the way silicone or latex can, but it's soft, lightweight and easy to put on and take off, which matters a lot with younger swimmers.
That softness is really the whole point. Children who struggle with a tighter silicone or latex cap tend to get on much better with polyester, and it still keeps hair out of the eyes during a lesson, which is usually all a swim school needs it to do. It also helps keep hair away from goggles and reduces snagging, so there's less fuss in the changing room.
It's a great surface for printing too, so mascots, characters and school branding can be reproduced in bright, detailed designs. If you're kitting out a learn to swim programme, swim school class or anything involving a lot of small, wriggly heads, polyester is what we'd recommend.
Silicone for older pupils and school swim teams
For older children, typically around 8 or 9 upwards, or for pupils training more seriously, silicone swim hats are a more durable option that will handle regular use throughout the school term.
It's the same material our swimming club customers choose for regular training, so it's a natural step up as pupils move into more serious swimming programmes or school swim teams.
Full colour printing is now available
We also offer full colour printing on polyester and lycra using our DTF printing process. This opens up considerably more options for school orders. Detailed school crests, photographic mascots, shading, gradients and multi colour designs can all be reproduced on suitable fabric swim hats.

Personalised For Every Pupil
Individual names can be printed on caps for an additional £2.30 per cap, or 95p for duplicate names. This is particularly useful for primary schools wanting each child's cap to be easily identified on poolside.
