Lycra swim hats are built for comfort over anything else. Made from a stretchy polyamide and elastane blend rather than rubber, they sit on the head without the snug pull of silicone or latex, and swimmers tend to forget they're wearing one after the first few lengths.
The fabric breathes, which is the real advantage here. Anyone who overheats in a rubber based hat, or trains in a warm pool for long stretches, usually gets on far better with lycra. It won't keep hair dry and it doesn't reduce drag the way silicone does, but that's not what it's for, its job is keeping hair back and out of goggles in comfort. A wide elastic band gives it a proper ergonomic fit in both senior and junior sizing.
Recreational swimmers, aqua fitness classes and anyone prioritising comfort over performance are the best fit for lycra, and it's fully customisable if you want a club or class design on there too.
